From Sunday 4th June to 1st October 2017,  why not visit The Scottish Sculpture Park Exhibition ? The garden is open from 11am to 6pm from Thursday to Sunday and Bank holidays. Admission: Adults £5.00 and children under 16 are free.

Simon Burns-Cox will be exhibiting at The Scottish Sculpture Park at Caol Ruadh on the Kyles of Bute, Argyll, Scotland. This outdoor gallery will be promoting and selling contemporary sculpture by artists from around the world. This year’s exhibition is entitled ‘Hortus Redux’ meaning ‘Restored Garden’ as the Garden at Caol Ruadh has recently undergone a complete restoration programme. Throughout the summer, visitors can wander freely around the garden, among classical and abstract sculpture created from stone, wood, metal and organic materials from internationally renowned sculptors. The beauty of the garden and its ancient rocks, the dramatic views and soft sea light offer a setting unlike any other in Britain for outdoor sculpture. The Scottish Sculpture Park is run by Karen Scotland and Anne Edmonds. Both women have spent the last twenty years designing and working around interiors and gardens.  Simon Burns-Cox will be exhibiting the following Sculptures:

The sculpture ‘Hortus Redux’ was designed to commemorate the restoration of the Garden at Caol Ruadh on the Kyles of Bute, Argyll, Scotland as ‘Hortus Redux’ means ‘Restored Garden’.  It is also the name of this year’s exhibition. It is made from slate and measures 102 x 24 x 2.5 plus the base. There is a small tulip carved at the top with the words “Hortus Redux’ carved below in larger letters. It is a simple but thoughtful piece of work.

The sculpture  ‘Sic Itur Ad Astra’ is inspired by Virgil. The words are carved on one side while on the other they are translated meaning ‘ Thus One Journeys to The Stars’. You are invited to look through the large window cut out of the sculpture. Consider the beautiful view and The Stars beyond. It is made from slate and measures 90 x 30 x 2 cm.

The sculpture ‘The One that got Away ‘ depicts the fish that manages to escape. It is made from Indian and Scottish Marble and measures 85 x 30 x 48 cm. It is an older piece that was made for The Borders Sculptors Stobo Water Gardens Exhibition in Pebbles, Scotland in 2011.
